Trips to la grave

The European Ski School runs full-day and half-day trips to La Grave from the opening of the La Grave link (usually mid-January) until the end of the winter season.
Trips normally run on a Wednesday or Saturday but can be run any day of the week except Sunday if we have suitable weather and snow conditions.

The La Grave link is the high altitude connection between the Les Deux Alpes and La Grave glaciers. To get to La Grave, a piste-basher will tow you from the top of the Lauze T-bar in Les Deux Alpes to the top of the Girose drag lift in La Grave. For the return journey, a short walk from the top of the Girose lift will allow you to ski back to Les Deux Alpes.

Whether you can cope with La Grave depends both on your own ability, your fitness and the current snow conditions. In terms of steepness, the classic routes are no steeper than a red/black run. However, the descent is long and there are limited options to rest in a café or take the lift down.

Here are our typical schedules for full and half-day trips. Please note that these are only for illustration. The instructor will make route choices on the day depending on snow conditions and the ability of the group.

We will only take you to La Grave (or on any other off-piste route) if you are wearing an avalanche transceiver and carrying a shovel and probe. If you do not have these we can rent them to you for 10 euros.
We recommend that skiers use off-piste specific skis as these will make the day much easier. You can rent suitable skis from several shops in Les Deux Alpes. If you need advice, ask at the office, or speak to an instructor when you do the La Grave test.
